World Primary Immunodeficiency Week (WPIW) was celebrated throughout the world during the week of April 22nd-29th, 2012. 20 countries participated with educational and social events to bring greater awareness to Primary Immunodeficiencies – to ensure earliest possible diagnosis, and equal access to safe, effective, and lifesaving treatments.
World PI Week (WPIW) Mission:
• Drive recognition of Primary Immunodeficiencies (PI) as an increasingly important disease group.
• Increase understanding amongst medical professionals, researchers, nurses, parents, school teachers, day care employees, and the public.
• Stimulate efforts to improve recognition, diagnosis, treatment, and quality of life.
• Encourage health authorities to use awareness materials
• Promote the model of combining physician education and global awareness with the infrastructure to diagnose and treat PI.
• Stimulate national outreach towards governments.
