My daughter is 17 months old. She has been on an antibotic of one form or the other for the past 7 or so months. She has had phemonia 3 times since the age of 1, 8 ear infections in one case and in the current case she has blow her left ear drum. Has had sinuse problems through it all. I have asked for her to be tested, and they say she must go 12 days of being health for them to draw blood that was months ago and needless to say she has yet to go that long. Am I crazy and over reacting, do they really have to wait? I wanted to know soon than later. Please help.

I went thru the same thing with my daughter now almost 5. If you would like i can give you the name and number or e-mail of the immunologist i work with on a consistent basis. He is wonderful and takes the time to run tests and answer your questions. I couldn't get any results with my peditrician and local specialists. So finally she referred me elsewhere. My e-mail is risalexi@cox.net. I hope to here from you soon. Together we can get thru this. Remember, you are not ALONE!!! Also, have AOL instant messenger it is risalexi2.

I think you need to push for a blood test sooner. her being sick should not affect an IGG level test . My son is Eight and that has close to 40 IGG test and him being sick was never a factor. You need to know here levels before you can really proceed, antibiotics even done prophlactily, is not going to do any good if she doesnt get the treatment she needs My son was doing both and he still has a constant runny nose. you want to believe in your doctor but you have to remember that they are just human and you should learn as much as you can and work side by side WITH your doctor. After having dealt with a large amount of health proffesionals I've come up with some conclusuions. I wish you the best and remember no one loves your daughter more than you, so be her best advicate.

My children all have had health issues as yours, one son has had pneumonia 28 times. I have an igg immune deficiency. The one that was the sickest, is now grown, heaqlthy big and strong, my youngest is grown but still gets sick easily and I suspect he has deficiency also. It's a long hard road when they're young and constantly ill, have the patience and get to an immunologist that is current with immune deficiencies, not all are you know.MAke sure you get your rest so you can take care and not get so stressed, very important.Good Luck.

Perhaps this will help ease your fear/concern. I was diagnosis with an immunodeficiency when I was sixteen, after many numerous illness and hospital visits/stays. The fact that your doctor has detected this possibility in your daughter so early on is a very good thing. Since I started therapy over 10 years ago- I live a normal healthy live. In fact I rarely if ever get sick. I have only had two mild cases bronchitis in all those years and no cases of pneumonia or other illness. You daughter can live a normal healthy active life with the correct treatment. The best advice I can give you to try and determine that correct type of therapy for her. Most, involve monthly- to weekly infusions and there are variety of methods to administration. Currently, I monitor and administrate my own medication on a weekly basic and it fairly easy and fit into my lifestyle.
