If my husband and I don't have PI, why can't we donate blood for our son's IVIG therapy treatments?

The way it was explained to me, the IVIG is from pooled blood because lots of peoples’ blood has lots of different antibodies to lots of different diseases, so the IVIG will offer a broader coverage.  Also, it goes through a lot of testing in a factory setting – no one’s family could donate enough blood for that.
