My son has IgA deficiency and I think it would help him to talk to other kids who have PI. I remember reading something about a pen pal program for kids with PI-- has anyone heard of this or know who I can contact about it?

There is a Foundation called Children’s Hopes and Dreams that has a pen pal program.  It is for all kids who are affected by illnesses that keep them at home a lot.  I’m sure it would be a big help to him to be in contact with other kids going through the same thing.  Good luck to you and your son.
