JMF Meets with Chairman of Congressional Subcommittee on Blood Safety

Christopher Shays, (R-CT), Chairman of the Congressional Subcommittee on Blood Safety, recently met with Fred and Vicki Modell in his Washington office concerning the nation's blood safety and availability. Congressman Shays has been deeply committed to protecting all Americans dependent upon plasma and plasma derivatives. At the same time, he has made efforts to ensure continuing availability.

The meeting resulted in Congressman Shays encouragement of the public/private partnership involving the CDC, the NICHD, and the JMF. In a letter the Chairman said "This appears to be a project that could make significant improvements in families' lives and health, and I wish you success with it."
