APDS is a rare primary immunodeficiency estimated to occur in 1-2 per million people worldwide.  Previously known as PASLI* disease, APDS has a wide variety of symptoms including severe recurrent respiratory tract infections, chronic benign lymphoproliferation, and autoimmune diseases, making it difficult to diagnose.  Patients are often misdiagnosed with other immunodeficiencies or autoimmune disorders and can have a long course to obtain a correct diagnosis.
